Testing

Students, with their instructor's approval, can complete their exams and quizzes using proctoring services, available in the LTU Library

We will make every effort to accommodate a student’s schedule when making an exam appointment, however, students should be proactive in communicating and scheduling their exams.

Faculty and students, please follow these steps to schedule a test in the Library:

  1. Student will initiate the request to the instructor to take a test in the Library.
  2. Instructor will fill out this Google Form, currently in beta. This should go live September 2-5, 2025. Please email ssctesting@ltu.edu in the meantime.
  3. Proctoring staff will email the student a link to schedule an appointment once the form is received. Tentative appointment bookings will be forwarded to the instructor for their reference.
  4. Instructors will submit all materials for proctoring staff to confirm the appointment. They can be uploaded directly to the Google form, hand delivered, or emailed to ssctesting@ltu.edu. If the instructor does not submit the test, the appointment will remain tentative.

Preparing for your exam
  • You will need to sign a Testing Service Form in person before each exam. Please bring your LTU student ID and any approved and required materials (pencil, calculator, etc.) to the appointment.
  • You are responsible for communicating with your instructors.
  • If testing materials are not received at least 1 hour before the tentative appointment, your appointment will be cancelled. Please follow up with your instructor.
  • Your appointment may be cancelled if you arrive more than 15 minutes late.
  • Only one reschedule will be allowed for tests/exams.

Exam Proctoring
  • Proctoring staff monitor students taking tests via a camera system and frequent walkthroughs.
  • If the student is in any way exhibiting behaviors that do not follow the Academic Honor Code or Student Code of Conduct, proctoring staff will attempt to stop the exam. The instructor will be informed of the situation. Any further action is at the discretion of the instructor.

Instructors
  • Any variance from the submitted Google form must be communicated with the proctoring staff through ssctesting@ltu.edu or through the Google form. Proctoring staff cannot deviate from the information and instructions provided on the Google form and testing materials.
  • Please submit the Google form and testing materials prior to the day of the exam.
  • Students are directed to communicate with you throughout the process. When proctoring staff are communicating with the student, we will make every effort to copy the instructor.
  • When you fill out the Google Form, please note any relevant instructions, particularly with regards to allowances related to student accommodations (e.g., if a formula sheet is provided or to be brought by the student). Please be as specific as possible with your instructions.
  • For students with documented disabilities, refer to the “Accommodations Memo” provided to you by the Access and Accommodations office for the student when determining proctoring instructions. Questions about students with disability accommodations should be addressed to the Access and Accommodations office.
  • We will allow students to take their tests on Canvas/online if you authorize that on the Google Form.  Please note, we are unable to monitor their internet usage during their exam. We are only able to monitor what we can see in our cameras.
  • Once the exam is completed, tests will be returned to the Dean’s office of your college each week. If you would like to pick up the exam, please note this on the Google Form.
