The Bentley Historical Library at the University of Michigan is home to two large collections of Albert Kahn material from both his personal and professional life. The Albert Kahn Associates Records were donated in 2003 by the Kahn architectural firm on the occasion of Kahn's 134th birthday in an effort to "ensure the conservation and accessibility of these records." The records include not only paper but architectural, photographic, and audiovisual materials totaling 166 linear feet. In scope, they cover not only Albert Kahn's career but also the firm's evolution following his death. Another important collection is the Albert Kahn Family Papers which were donated by several descendants of Albert Kahn and his extended family. Not only do they shed light on the personal life of the architect, but also on the lives of his children and other relatives.
The University of Michigan Museum of Art holds a number of Kahn's European architectural sketches done over the course of several trips to the continent in the 1910s and 1920s. Most of the drawings are of French edifices completed during Kahn's first visit to Europe after the award of a scholarship, with several of the later ones from Italy.
